Celebrating the increasing fascination and appreciation in POP Art this Summer, ION ART, in collaboration with ArtScience Museum, presents us with POP COLORS!. POP COLORS! Consists of a Pop Art exhibition along with an array of POP Art themed talks, workshops and
activities designed for both adults and children.
The artwork on show at the exhibition was created especially for POP COLORS! by four local artists, Andre Tan, Karen Heng, Bradley Foisset, Francis Poon and Eunice Lim. Each artist has taken it upon themselves to create a POP Art piece where their inspiration was directly taken from the creative genius of Andy Warhol.
Although all of the artwork from these young Singaporean artists is compelling in their own way, I found myself most attracted to the simplicity yet interactive nature of the Time Capsules installation from Francis Poon. I hope that those who have the chance to visit the exhibition will participate and leave a little of themselves behind for posterity in one of the jars. Perhaps when the capsules are reopened there may be a doodle or note from the future Singaporean Andy Warhol or hopefully even someone greater!
To complement this fun exhibition there will be a series of art talks conducted by T.H.E.O. Arts Professionals. The lead speaker of these talks is the veteran, Seah Tzi-Yan, who was the co-founder of the Art Galleries Association, Singapore (1996) and ARTSingapore (2000).
Tzi-Yan’s talks are fun yet informative and are designed to suit everyone, from those who have minimal knowledge in art and wish to learn more to the knowledgeable, well informed, avid collectors, who think that they know it all!
The ART TALK SESSIONS are being held every Saturday at 11:00 am sharp and the topics of the talks are:
