Congratulations to The Artist for sweeping Tinseltown with 5 Oscars at yesterday’s 84th Oscar Award ceremony at the Hollywood and Highland Center (formerly known as the Kodak Theatre).
I am sure that many people were surprised that the dark horse took away so many awards as mainly the casts and director are French and unknown in America. And a simple black and white silent movie can create such a storm. So to us it is almost a foreign film that ruled Hollywood for the night.
The Artist took away the following awards;
- Best Picture – Thomas Langmann, Producer
- Actor in Leading Role – Jean Dujardin
- Costume Design – Mark Bridges
- Directing – Michel Hazanavicius
- Music (Origina Score) – Ludovic Bource

Artitute had the honor to catch it’s preview last year at The Cathay in December at the 1st Rendezvous with French Cinema in Singapore. The movie is light hearted and witty. If you haven’t seen The Artist, catch it at Cathay Cineplex Orchard before it disappears. Or click here to read about.
