The Business of Celebrity Photography by RUSSEL WONG, 11:30am – 1PM
Russel Wong enjoys the acclaim of being the first Singaporean to break into the notoriously difficult Hollywood movie industry. He is also one of an elite group of photographers assigned to photograph covers for Time magazine, 17 to date. He has worked with Oscar winning directors like Ang Lee and Zhang Yimou and have created images for their posters and publicity on movies like the Oscar winning Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero, House Of Flying Daggers and the Venice Golden Lion winner in Venice Lust Caution. Still-life compositions, architecture, nudes, landscapes, and conceptual pieces are as much a part of his practice as are his celebrity portraits and his prints have been sold at the prestigious Christie’s auction house.

Stephen’s artworks have been featured in a variety of publications both in US and abroad notably, USA Today, Everyday Living, The Dr Oz Show, Daily Mail Online, The Huffington Post, Hamptons Art Hub, Camera Arts Magazine, Art New England Magazine, Rangefinder Magazine, Photovision Magazine, and many more. Stephen is also widely recognized in the industry as a master printer and leading innovator in digital printing technologies. Stephen adds to his expertise as an innovator in the use of fine and handmade papers from around the world. He has been at the forefront of advanced printing technologies and featured in dozens of magazine articles and exhibitions around the globe. Distinctions received include being selected as a Yellowhouse Master, and being one of Polaroid’s ten featured artists. He has consulted for such industry leaders as Kodak, Polaroid, Canson, Hahnemule, Ergosoft, and Life Magazine.

In 1998, 2002 and 2005, Matthew Tan was named the Wedding Photographer of the Year. In 2008, two of his winning entries in the classical and contemporary wedding category clinched the widely vied internationally acclaimed “MPA Wedding Photographer of the Year” title. Partnered with Derrick to establish ‘The Portrait Gallery’ based in Singapore, they affiliated with top overseas photography associations through memberships with the Wedding and Portrait Photographers Association (WPPI) and the Master Photographer Association (MPA) in the UK

Based in Singapore, Charlie Lim is a man of many professions – an art director, commercial photographer, fine art veteran and a collector of vintage items. With a career spanning more than four decades, Charlie has worked with a diverse range of clients, from famous celebrities to politicians to ordinary families; all this while continually refining his techniques and pushing the boundaries of photography. His work encompasses a wide spectrum of subjects, from portraits to food presentation, product, industrial and aerial photography.
Fast Speed Lighting Photography by TEO TEE HUA, 2pm – 3:30pm
TEO TEE HUA has been in the commercial photography industry since his teenage years, is a competent professional photographer with wide knowledge and vast experience both locally and overseas. He undertakes photography projects on local, regional and national levels for clients based in Singapore and South East Asia, and cities in Europe.
Contemporary Art with New Medium by SABIANA PAOLI, 4pm – 6pm
Sabiana Paoli is a Gallerist, Writer, Poet, Educator and multi-disciplinary artist based in Singapore. She holds a Master’s Degree in Arts from the University of Florence where she majored in Art History in 2002. For the past 3 years, Ms. Paoli has also been teaching Art History at the Italian Institute of Culture in Singapore and is concurrently pursuing a second Master’s program in Art and Pedagogy at Lasalle College of the Arts. Ms. Paoli’s personal artistic pursuit has been multi-disciplinary in nature and she has concurrently written and painted on the same theme. She has written about and been deeply influenced by Jack Pollock’s style of painting as well and some of these works are on display here. Recently, the artist has composed an anthology of Poetry in the context of some of her paintings. This effort aims to culminate to a published book and is available in the form of a booklet at this show. In addition to her own artistic pursuits, over the years, she has organised solo and group shows for Italian as well as international artists worldwide in places like Singapore, Italy, Warsaw, New Delhi.

Homemade Paper and Print by SEASON LAO, 2pm– 3:30pm
Born in 1987, Season Lao now is based in Sapporo. He graduated from Macao Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Multimedia Design. While studying in the evenings, he worked in both design and art, winning numerous awards. His art and activities expanded internationally having designed souvenirs for Louis Vuitton. Returning to pure art forms, his desire to compare modern metropolis to a simple and honest country life arose. During his travels to various countries, he was particularly inspired by the serene snow-covered winter landscapes in Date, Hokkaido. At 23 years of age, he was invited to be a creative director for a Japanese design company even though he didn’t speak any Japanese at that time. He began exploring Japan from Sapporo to other cities including the coal mining ruins in Hokkaido. He worked on his art projects, examining the balance between nature and human beings.

Billy Mork is the Founder and art curator of Immagini Gallery, specialising in black and white fine art photography and printing. Currently, he is an associate partner and executive chief curator of The Canvas Gallery. Besides operating as a fibre-based hand print custom black and white lab and offering gallery services, Immagini also functions as a meeting place for photo artists. Immagini is the only lab in Singapore to hand print high quality archival black and white enlargements on non-resin coated photographic paper of up to 1.2 by 1.4 metres. Photographers and artists, both local and from overseas, make a beeline to Billy when they need their exacting requirements to be met. Billy counts celebrity photographers like Russel Wong as a regular client.
